Reluctantly Upgrading to iOS 8

My phone had always been jailbroken, and I was quite dependent on a few “pirated” apps, so I never upgraded to iOS 8. Recently, after seeing some new features on my wife’s iOS 8 phone, I finally couldn’t resist and upgraded my phone last Sunday night.

I proceeded with the upgrade with the intention of jailbreaking it again. Early in the morning, I prepared the PP Jailbreak Assistant, then backed up, flashed the system, and jailbroke it. Unfortunately, the worst happened. First, the backup couldn’t be fully restored. Since the previous system was jailbroken, many apps could only be installed after jailbreaking, so I had to jailbreak first to restore those apps. Second, after using the Pangu jailbreak, I encountered the “white apple” screen repeatedly when installing plugins from Cydia. Even without installing plugins, restoring the backup with the jailbreak assistant after jailbreaking also resulted in the white apple screen. Third, when I separately copied out the photos and imported them back into the phone, all the videos couldn’t be played, and the photo order and folder distribution were completely messed up. It’s beyond frustrating.

The Dilemma of Coordination Between Land Administration and Public Security

Last night, I had a brief conversation with a fellow villager about land law enforcement issues and discovered that they currently have a batch of cases involving illegal rare earth mining and unauthorized excavation of kaolin (ceramic clay).

Due to professional sensitivity, I quickly realized that these cases fall into the gap between local administrative law enforcement and criminal justice. Severe cases of illegal mining and destructive mining practices are covered under criminal law, while minor infractions fall under the administrative penalties of the land law enforcement departments.

Comprehensive Governance by Law

Today, the Central Committee issued the “Decision on Several Major Issues Concerning the Comprehensive Advancement of the Rule of Law,” which spans over 16,000 words. However, not many of these are directly related to individual work.

First and foremost is the section most closely related to individual work:

The Political and Legal Affairs Committee is the organizational form through which the Party Committee leads political and legal work and must be upheld for the long term. The Political and Legal Affairs Committees at all levels should focus their efforts on grasping the political direction, coordinating the functions of various parties, overseeing political and legal work, building the political and legal team, urging the performance of duties according to law, and creating a fair judicial environment. They should take the lead in handling affairs according to law and ensure the correct and unified implementation of the Constitution and laws. The Party organizations within political and legal organs should establish and improve the system of reporting major matters to the Party Committee. Strengthen the Party’s construction within political and legal organs, and fully leverage the political guarantee role of Party organizations and the vanguard and exemplary role of Party members in the construction of the rule of law.

Weekly Work Summary

Writing work summaries is a peculiar task, with two common approaches: one is to plagiarize, and the other is to copy. Hmm, perhaps there isn’t a third option. In this day and age, who still takes the time to write a work summary seriously?

But things often take unexpected turns. Since embarking on this path of endless documentation, I now seem to be entangled in an infinite web of written materials. My modest practical skills are far from meeting the high expectations of my superiors. Thus, I have no choice but to grit my teeth and start documenting my daily activities as required by my leaders, reporting my work weekly to enhance my material writing skills.

Your Idol Is Not a God

Previously, my impression of Comrade Rui Chenggang was limited to him being a proud and talented journalist who spoke fluent English. It wasn’t until I saw the shocking news online that he had been taken away by prosecutors that I realized this person was extraordinary. If he were also classified as an idol, he must have had tens of thousands of fans, especially among passionate and educated young people. Now, mentioning him probably evokes a different kind of discussion.

Three Years Since Graduation, Bumps and Bruises Bring Me Back to Square One

It has been over three years since I started working, during which I have hopped around various organizations and held several different positions. If I were to divide these three years into segments, it would look something like this:

  • First Segment: February 2011 – June 2011, lasting 4 months. During this period, I hastily went through three different jobs: group buying website operations (only one week), website maintenance (two months), and online marketing (two months).
  • Second Segment: July 2011 – November 2012, lasting 15 months. This period was relatively stable, as I consistently worked on the same tasks: managing the court’s information systems and maintaining internal and external websites.
  • Third Segment: December 2012 – July 2014, lasting 20 months. This phase can be further divided into three sub-segments: from December 2012 to May 2013, I worked at a judicial office handling petition and stability maintenance; from June 2013 to October 2013, I was at the legal education office responsible for legal publicity; from November 2013 to January 2014, I served in a rural village as part of a “three rural services” program; from January to February 2014, I returned to the legal education office; and from March to June 2014, I went back to the judicial office.

Over these three years, the major events I experienced in my career include:

End-of-Month Ramblings

Time flies by, and suddenly it’s the end of the month. When things get overwhelming, I really want to find an open space and shout at the sky. In the city, it’s hard to find a place to breathe fresh air, so I just have to pump myself up to keep my spirits high. Everyone is shrouded in gloom, so someone has to spread a little sunshine.

To the Sea
  ——Shu Ting

  The sunrise over the sea
Elicits heartfelt admiration from many heroes
  The sunset over the sea
Evokes tender nostalgia in many poets
How many songs sung on the cliffs
Are still whispered day and night
  By the sea breeze
How many footprints left on the sand
How many sails raised towards the horizon
  Are secretly buried
  By the waves

There have been curses, there has been sorrow
There have been praises, there has been glory
  The sea—ever-changing life
  Life—a turbulent ocean

Where is the cave dug in childhood
Where are the traces of first love walking side by side
  Oh, sea
  Even if your waves
  Can wash away memories
  There are still some shells
  Scattered on the hillside
Like stars on a summer night

Perhaps the whirlpool blinks with dangerous eyes
Perhaps the storm opens its greedy mouth
  Oh, life
  Though you have shattered
  Countless pure dreams
  There are still brave souls
  Like petrels flying swiftly
  Through the storm

The evening shore is as calm as night
The cold night rocks are as stern as death
From the shore to the rocks
  How lonely my shadow is
  From dusk to late night
  How proud my heart is

  "Element of freedom"
  Whether you feign a roar
  Or pretend to be calm
Whether you sweep away the past
  All that is past—
  In this world
There is the pain of sinking
  And the joy of awakening

Empathy is truly difficult. For example, if you are a naturally beautiful, stunning woman, it’s hard for you to understand the panic of someone like me, who has various innate deficiencies and a sensitive constitution.
