The past couple of days have been filled with awkward and embarrassing incidents. Yesterday, we went out for a legal awareness campaign. Upon arriving at Dongfang Square, everyone was momentarily lost. After some brainstorming, we split up to take action. Starting is always the hardest part. Carrying large bags of materials, we searched for potential targets… Each time we approached someone, we hesitated and retreated, causing everyone to burst into laughter and passersby to look at us with disdain.
Finally, we got started, only to realize that the vast square wasn’t as crowded as we thought… So, we considered moving to the bus stop across the street for our campaign. In our haste, I grabbed a bag that read “Enhance Legal Awareness, Build a Harmonious Foshan” and actually jaywalked to get there…
At the bus stop, we found that no one was paying attention. After finally managing to speak to a few people, we encountered an expert who claimed to watch the Central 12 legal channel every day and dismissed our materials as child’s play… We quickly moved on… His loud voice caught the attention of everyone nearby.
Frustrated, we turned to the entrance of a shopping mall… Before we could get close, a security guard stopped us. I tried to promote a “Legal Education Handbook for Migrant Workers” to him, but he bluntly said the book was only suitable for migrant workers… Despite his tall and dark appearance, he turned out to be a local from Foshan… Oh well, we still tried to promote our cause to him before leaving in a huff.
Once, we found an elderly lady in a motorcycle parking lot. I took out a notebook to jot down some notes. After a lengthy introduction, I asked her, “May I know your surname?”, “How old are you?”, and “What is your gender?”… She gave me a look of disdain, and we quickly left.
Another time, we saw a bespectacled elderly lady near the mall, who looked like a typical intellectual… After a few words, we realized she was speaking in perfect Hong Kong Cantonese, saying, “I’m not interested in mainland laws”… These days, you never know what you’ll encounter…
Once, I saw a woman carefully reading a job advertisement outside the mall. I quickly approached her, hoping to promote some knowledge about labor laws… Suddenly, a burly man appeared, grabbed the woman, and hurried her into the mall… I was met with another look of disdain… I hastily apologized…
Another time, I saw an elderly lady (there seemed to be a lot of elderly people in the square in the morning), also wearing glasses, dressed simply but with a good spirit. She was walking while reading something… I quickly approached her and had a very smooth conversation… It seems that educated people are easier to talk to…
Once, I saw an elderly man nearby, but before I could get a good look, several classmates were already engaging him in legal education… I hid behind, feeling like crying, as I watched everyone hand him large stacks of materials… His shoes were full of holes, his socks were mismatched, and he had a large woven bag tied around his waist… Sigh… After the classmates dispersed, the promotional materials successfully made their way into his bag…
Once, I saw a white-collar lady and tried to promote our cause to her… She bluntly said, “I work at the Judicial Bureau”… We quickly left.
Once, I saw two middle-aged men, about the same age as my dad. The conversation started smoothly, and they even mentioned they were currently involved in a labor contract lawsuit, mainly due to a procedural issue where a right had expired… They directly asked if I could help them resolve it… I was stunned… If I could solve it, would I be standing here in the wind? I had to give them a few consultation phone numbers… Sigh…
Once, I saw a girl handing out flyers near the mall… A classmate directly approached her with our promotional materials, only to end up receiving a few flyers from her instead…
As the event was winding down, I noticed that two classmates had never appeared in any photos… So, we gathered two sets of promotional materials and took a couple of photos at the bus stop before heading back to school… The first photo was of a classmate bending over to hand materials to a motorcycle taxi driver… Luckily, I was quick with the camera, as the driver refused the materials immediately… The second photo was of promoting to people waiting for the bus… We surrounded two people and took about ten photos in a row… The girl waiting for the bus was so startled that she dropped the materials…
…… That night, while showering, I washed my hair twice but still felt something was off… I vaguely felt that the shampoo was running out… A cool breeze blew through the bottom of the door… Turns out, I had mistaken Ding Jiayi for Rejoice…
Before bed, as usual, I did some push-ups while listening to “I Gotta Feeling”… I got so excited that I pushed too hard with my right arm, causing the entire mat to slide off the bed… My right hand ended up on the floor…
Luckily, the school bed is quite low, but my arm scraped against the edge of the bed, completely scraping off the skin…
Yesterday was truly a dizzying day.
This morning, I woke up at 6 to use the bathroom… After finishing, I went back to sleep and continued dreaming… At 7, I received a text message, glanced at it, and went back to sleep… At 8:30, I got a call, answered it, and went back to sleep… At 9:30, another call came in, and after answering, I went back to sleep…
This dream seemed to have started around 2 or 3 AM and continued uninterrupted until after 10 AM, despite waking up a few times… Each time, I went back to the same dream… I should probably check what Freud has to say about this.
